The Medical Doctors:
Our Medical Directors are the Medical Specialists, Dr Mitch Kaplan and Dr Louis Sulman, who are locally qualified and have trained at leading Medical Institutions internationally, including Ivy League Centres in the USA and in other countries. They are fully accredited to perform the Scans and are members of the Radiological Society of South Africa (RSSA) and the Board of Health Funders (BHF).
They pioneered Preventative Imaging and CT Screening into South Africa in 2003.
Both are invitation lecturers at the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School.
Dr Mitch D. Kaplan is a Gold Medalist Specialist Radiologist who has been a senior partner in a large private hospital radiology practice for 23 years.
He is a founder and medical director of the Back To Life® Spinal and Joint Pain Management practice since inception in 2008.
He has been published in cited medical journals and has been a speaker at local and international congresses, including the International Congress of Radiology (ISR).
He is a member of the international Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) and is a panel member for the Radiological Society of South Africa (RSSA).
Dr Kaplan has been the recipient of the international Carlo Romanini Award (first place) for endometriosis diagnosis, and has been a recognised instructor for the training of specialists in Coronary CT Angiography and CT Colonography.
Dr Louis Sulman is a Specialist Radiologist who is the founding and senior partner of a large private Radiology Practice, where he has over 25 years of experience.
He is highly experienced in Preventative Imaging and CT Screening. He has specialised in Musculo-skeletal MRI and CT Scanning, for which he is recognised in South Africa.
Our other specialist Doctors perform the CT Colonography (virtual Colonoscopy) and Ultrasound (Sonar or Doppler) Scans.
Dr K Spiegal qualified MBBCh from University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in 1997, winning the Smith and Nephew award for orthopaedics. She completed her internship at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in 1998, and community service medical officer time at Helen Joseph hospital in 1999 which included the fields of orthopaedics and intensive care.
She continued with a 6 month senior house office (SHO) post in Paediatrics at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in Johannesburg. She completed her registrarship and qualifed in Diagnostic Radiology in 2004 through the College of Radiologists of South Africa.
Between 2004 and 2009 she continued as a consultant radiologist at the Helen Joseph hospital progressing to senior consultant and acting clinical head of the radiology department. Keren has been in her current position as specialist radiologist at Dr L Sulman and Partners since August 2009. She has a special interest in multimodality breast imaging and intervention for diagnosis of breast disease, musculoskeletal ultrasound and MRI imaging as well as virtual colonoscopy imaging.
She has completed a number of related courses including Multimodality Detection and Diagnosis of Breast Disease by Laszlo Tabar and Advanced Orthopaedic and Joint MRI By Pomeranz Proscan imaging in Chicago USA. Keren has a number of publications to her name in the South African Journal of Radiology and in the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, Australia and new Zealand.
